This week’s startup is serving up a scrumptious solution for foodies. Beli is a new social food ranking app where you can rank your favorite restaurants, see your friends’ favorites, and find recs.

⚾ The Elevator Pitch

Trying to find a good restaurant can be hit or miss at times. Sure, you can go on Yelp or Google Reviews, but the reviews are written by total strangers (maybe even bots). And on top of that, your definition of 5 stars might be very different from someone else’s .

Think of Beli as Yelp + friends + ranking. In Beli, you can keep track of all your favorite food spots, see where your friends are eating and what they like, and receive recommendations and notifications about reservations.

People gravitate towards their friends’ opinions. It’s just natural. Rather than rely on reviews on total strangers (or even sometimes bots), beli taps into communities that we all trust – friends. This extra social component makes the app more reliable and fun, almost game-ifying food reviews as users are incentivized to both rank more restaurants and see what their friends’ rankings are.

Well-designed experiences are one of the great joys of life – and that is exactly what Beli is. The app is intuitive, clean, and informative. Users can easily toggle previous favs, recommendations, and friends’ favorites either in a list or map view. They’ve designed the process of both finding and ranking restaurants to be fun and creative.
